Buddha Was Born In Nepal was a non-linear exhibition and investigation into the aid relationship between India and Nepal.
Working with the extensive archive housed at the Nepal Bharat Library, this exhibition was named after a Nepali nationalist slogan. In this project, I collaborated with Vikrant Singh, a local journalist and economist, to develop and explore twelve contextual threads. Within these threads, we examined ideas such as geopolitical tensions, minority stress and cross-border displacement, trade embargoes, and monarchy in Nepal. The final exhibition wove these threads into a golden, image-rich installation located in a building site that was a Buddhist temple in the making.
